There has been a lot of research carried out into the benefits of line dancing, unfortunately not in this country. It is accepted that social activities such as line dancing are good for your well being. Line dancing is being used in South Africa as a way of treating and preventing brittle bones. My basic understanding is that by stomping your feet it makes the bone denser and therefore reduces the risk or improves the condition of brittle bones.

The basic argument is that with line dancing you are not only exercising your body, but because you are learning new dances you are also exercising your mind. General research has shown that line dancing improves peoples well being, coordination and confidence. 

Line dancers meet up with a group of people weekly for the same reason. This builds a bond and improves the person’s outlook and therefore their feeling of well being and self worth. A number of TV programmes have recommended line dancing as a good form of keep fit and weight loss. There are a number of sites on the Internet for example.
